New series of online seminars entitled Kourovka Forum will be launched on October 29, 2020

is a collection of open problems in group theory proposed by mathematicians fr om all over the world. It has been published every 2 to 4 years and serves as a unique means of communication for researchers in group theory and nearby fields of mathematics. Probably the most striking illustration of its success is the fact that more than three-quarters of the problems from the 1st edition of 1965 have now been solved.

In 2020, the Mathematical Center Akademgorodok launches , as an additional feature of the Kourovka Notebook. The idea of this series of seminars is to clarify the most promising research directions in group theory and, more globally, algebra, along with other fields of mathematics wh ere they are applied. The organizers believe that clear formulations of the most intriguing problems help young researchers to focus their efforts and may give them a higher chance of achieving bright mathematical results.

The first seminar is held on Thursday, October 29th, at 4 pm (UTC+7, Novosibirsk time) via Zoom. The first talk is given by prof. Evgeny Khukhro, University of Lincoln, UK, and Sobolev Institute of Mathematics, Novosibirsk. Evgeny Khukhro is one of the editors of the Kourovka Notebook as well as prof. Victor Mazurov, Sobolev Institute of Mathematics and ³Ô¹Ï¹ÙÍø, Novosibirsk.
