The Mathematical Center in Akademgorodok launches a new seminar on fundamental and applied problems in the field of mathematics and IT

The first meeting of the new seminar will be held on May 13 at 6 pm (UTC+7) in room 212 of the NSU rector's building.

Igor Solodov, head of the BigData Research Team at Huawei Technologies, will present his talk "Big Data. Data access control systems. Development hypotheses and mathematical problems in this area".

Data surrounds us everywhere, it is diverse and plays an increasingly important role in decision-making in all areas of activity. The evolution of data began with various types of databases, which were later transformed into incorporate systems consisting of blocks that can be called a Data Storage Unit, a Data Access Control Unit, and a Data Processing Unit. Next, corporate systems became more and more open and large-scale, the data is more and more diverse, which led to the transition of all these blocks to cloud services. At the same time, the amount of data and the scale of tasks are constantly increasing, while maintaining the current rate of data accumulation in 2–3 years, existing technologies will be fundamentally insufficient for working with data. A new branch of the evolution of working with big data emerged — the one moving towards parallel computing, when data could no longer be processed on one, even the most powerful, computational node. All the big data that we plan to consider in this seminar is all the theory of parallel computing — at all stages.

At the seminar, we will look at the evolution of fundamental models for working with data, build the current fundamental model and consider in more detail the part of it that concerns data access control. Possible hypotheses for solving the arising fundamental difficulties and the requirements for mathematics that need to be developed in order to create technical solutions for these hypotheses will be formulated.

Meetings of the new seminar will be held regularly. Stay tuned for updates on this website.
