Steklov Mathematical Institute and IITP RAS launch a seminar "Mathematical problems in industry"

Modern information technologies are associated with mathematical problems from a wide variety of areas: mathematical statistics, analysis, optimization theory, algebra, number theory, theory of algorithms, and others. There is a growing demand among research engineers from leading companies to collaborate with theoretical mathematicians. At the seminar we will try to take a step towards this request.

The purpose of the seminar is to draw the attention of mathematicians to theoretical problems arising in industrial applications, and in the future — to cooperation in specific projects. We will invite leading industry representatives to present their reports, who will tell us about math problems in their fields. We will strive to find a common language with them and achieve an understanding of the mathematical component of the emerging problems. We invite everyone, including students and graduate students.

Time and Platform: Zoom on Wednesdays at 4 pm, approximately twice a month, starting October 20.

To participate in the seminar, you must fill out the registration form on the seminar .

Seminar Bureau: I. Arzhantsev (NRU HSE), L. D. Beklemishev (Steklov Mathematical Institute), V. M. Bukhstaber (Steklov Mathematical Institute), A. M. Raigorodsky (MIPT, Yandex), A. N. Sobolevsky (IITP RAS), D. A. Shmelkin (Huawei).

The seminar is supported by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation (the grant to the Steklov International Mathematical Center, agreement no. 075-15-2019-1614).
