The Third Russian-Japanese Workshop "Mathematical analysis of fracture phenomena for elastic structures and its applications" will be held in December — 21st Conference of Continuum Mechanics Focusing on Singularities (CoMFoS21)

The workshop is organized by the Mathematical Center in Akademgorodok, the Lavrentev Institute of Hydrodynamics SB RAS and the research group "Mathematical Aspects of Continuum Mechanics (MACM)".

Recent years have been characterized by significant progress in the development of the mathematical foundations of fracture mechanics. This area of research covers a wide range of important topics, including: crack propagation, equilibrium of structures with thin inclusions in the presence of delamination, frictional contact problems, inverse problems, and optimal control problems. The purpose of the Third Russian-Japanese Workshop "Mathematical analysis of fracture phenomena for elastic structures and its applications" — CoMFoS21 is to unite researchers working on various aspects of the listed topics. The workshop will provide researchers with a platform for communication, discussion and exchange of ideas within the general research topic.

Workshop topics:
  • theory of elasticity and plasticity;
  • modeling of composite materials;
  • fracture mechanics;
  • research of mathematical models of solid bodies with defects;
  • asymptotic and multiscale analysis;
  • body shape optimization;
  • inverse problems.
The workshop will be held online on December 14–16, 2021. The working language is English. Detailed information can be found on the workshop website:

The Organizing Committee from the Russian side includes participants in the research group "Differential Equations and Dynamical Systems" of the Mathematical Center in Akademgorodok.
