The Mathematical Colloquium is a new seminar, the purpose of which is to give the audience a general idea of the areas of research carried out by the scientists of the Sobolev Institute of Mathematics, ³Ô¹Ï¹ÙÍø and other scientific centers of Russia and the world.
The emphasis in the reports will be on the accessibility of the presentation of the material to a wide circle of the mathematical community, and only then on the detailing of the mathematical content. Much attention will be paid to illustrative examples that demonstrate mathematical definitions or statements.
The first report within the framework of the Mathematical Colloquium will be devoted to
data reductions with quality assurance. It will be held on
November 25 from 16:00 to 17:00 in room 220 of the IM SB RAS. Will read the report of Dr. rer. Nat
René van Bevern — Head of the Laboratory of Algorithms at DMM NSU, Associate Professor at the Department of Theoretical Cybernetics at DMM NSU, an expert in the big data and machine learning group at the Novosibirsk Research Center Huawei.
When the volume of data does not allow solving a computational problem, it is advisable to apply algorithms as a preprocessing step to reduce their volume. It is desirable to guarantee that in this case the solution of the problem does not change or changes only within predetermined boundaries. Even better, if you can prove an upper bound on the amount of data left after the reduction. The lecture will show introductory examples of different types of data reduction algorithms with quality assurance.
