Series of MCA master classes on geometric analysis continues

The Mathematical Center in Akademgorodok continues . The next mini-course will be read by Anastasia O. Molchanova (University of Vienna) on February 17 and 21. Lectures will be held in a mixed (online and offline) format.

Title of the mini-course: Г-convergence in variational problems.

The concept of Г-(variational) convergence, first considered by Ennio De Giorgi in 1975, is one of the most effective methods for studying the limiting behavior of a family of variational problems. This theory is applicable, in particular, to the rigorous mathematical derivation of models of elastic rods (3D - 1D) and plates (3D - 2D), as the limit of 3D objects, or the linear theory of elasticity as the limit of the nonlinear theory. In this course, we will look at the general theory of Г-convergence and look at a few examples.
