The concept of Г-(variational) convergence, first considered by Ennio De Giorgi in 1975, is one of the most effective methods for studying the limiting behavior of a family of variational problems. This theory is applicable, in particular, to the rigorous mathematical derivation of models of elastic rods (3D - 1D) and plates (3D - 2D), as the limit of 3D objects, or the linear theory of elasticity as the limit of the nonlinear theory. In this course, we will look at the general theory of Г-convergence and look at a few examples.
