International conference “Dynamics in Siberia” has started in Akademgorodok

Annual international conference “Dynamics in Siberia” has started yesterday, February 24, in Novosibirsk Akademgorodok. During six days (from February 24 to 29) more than 90 specialists from different parts of the world will share insights on problems in dynamical systems theory, geometry and related fields. This year’s conference is dedicated to 70th birthday of a distinguished Russian mathematician Valery Vasil’evich Kozlov.

Note:
V.V. Kozlov is a full member of RAS, a member of Presidential Council on Science and Education; he is a specialist in theoretical mechanics, problem of the exact integrability of equations of motion, variational methods of mechanics, and other. Among his scientific achievements is the solution of the Poincare problem of the non-existence of additional conservation laws for a heavy asymmetric rigid body with a fixed point, the Painlevé – Golubev problem of branching solutions of equations dynamics in the plane of complex time and the existence of a complete set of holomorphic first integrals of the Hamilton equations, Chaplygin's problem of the fall of a rigid body in an unbounded volume of ideal fluid. He was the first to get an accurate prove of the so-called Earnshaw’s theorem on the instability of equilibria in a field with a harmonic potential.

The conference is held by together with Sobolev Institute of Mathematics of SB RAS and ԹϹ.
