On September 16–19, for the first time in Russia, Strategic Educational Intensive, dedicated to the practice of creating and developing carbon polygons, took place at Tyumen State University. One of the program leaders was
Evgeny Vdovin, Director of the Mathematical Center in Akademgorodok, Doctor of Physics and Mathematics, Professor of the Mechanics and Mathematics Department of NSU.
Evgeny Vdovin comments on the decision to hold the event:
In the process of communication, we found out that both we and Tyumen State University are creating a carbon testing ground, and it would be nice to combine our efforts, to synchronize in understanding. Then we discovered the lack of at least some general knowledge, understanding of what it is, how to work with it, what the teams and regions that organize polygons need to do. And, having seen this stunning, colossal deficit, we developed the intensive format that allowed us to mutually enrich ourselves in order to act really effectively and meaningfully.
This event was attended by 106 people fr om 21 universities, 3 private companies and the regional government. The geography of the event covered 16 subjects, including the Republic of Chechnya and Mari El, Altai Krai, Arkhangelsk, Belgorod, Kemerovo, Novosibirsk and Tomsk Regions. 14 speakers, including representatives of universities in the USA, Finland and Germany, shared their expert knowledge with the participants.
Mentioning the practical implementation of the acquired knowledge, a carbon polygon is going to be open in Novosibirsk, which will be directed to forest-climatic projects, since there is a good natural base for them. The Climate center of NSU, which
has just opened within the framework of the International Forum for Technological Development
"Technoprom – 2021", will be engaged in the development of the landfill and carbon farms.
Evgeny Vdovin about the learning outcomes:
Green Campus is a story wh ere everyone starts with themselves. You should become those islands from which the green agenda scatters in all directions.
