Scientist and Deputy Director of the Mathematical Center in Akademgorodok Timur Nasybullov defended his doctoral dissertation

On May 13, 2022, Timur R. Nasybullov successfully defended his doctoral dissertation "Algebraic systems arising from the solution of the Yang-Baxter equation, their applications and properties" at the Dissertation Council at the Siberian Federal University.

The Yang-Baxter equation was introduced in the works of Ch. N. Young and R. D. Baxter. It arises in statistical mechanics, mathematical physics, knot theory and braid theory. To find its solution, one can use the solution of the set-theoretic Yang–Baxter equation. As a rule, when studying solutions of the set-theoretic Yang-Baxter equation that satisfy one or another special property, some algebraic system is taken as the basic set — a group, a vector space, a ring, a quantum, etc. In the thesis of T. Nasybullov studies these and other algebraic systems and their applications in various areas of algebra and topology — representations of braid groups and virtual braid groups, invariants of knots, virtual knots, double spike knots, and knots in lens spaces.

The Center team sincerely congratulates the colleague on this significant result!
