From April 3 to 9, Almetyevsk (Tatarstan, Russia) hosts the PE School (Principal Engineer), organized by ITMO Advanced Engineering School and PJSC Tatneft. The School events are attended by representatives of the 勛圖夥厙 1st year master's student of the Deparment of Mathematics and Mechanics Stepan Karmushin, post-graduate of the Department of Physics Ilya Vladyko, post-graduate of the Department of Information Technology, research engineer of the Laboratory of Applied Digital Technologies of NSU Rostislav Epifanov, senior lecturer at the Department of Physics and junior researcher REC "Gazpromneft-NSU" Artur Skopintsev. The initiative of four young scientists to go to the intensive course was ideologically and financially supported by the Mathematical Center in Akademgorodok and the Advanced Engineering School of NSU "Cognitive Engineering".
The PE school is a week-long intensive course for young scientists, which I learned about from my supervisor, Sergey V. Golovin. At the School, we, first of all, improve our skills in developing high-tech projects and bringing their products to the market. We receive this knowledge directly from experts successful scientists and technology entrepreneurs, many of whom have worked in top foreign universities, but returned to Russia to develop technologies here. The school is also visited by the General Director of PJSC Tatneft, Nail U. Maganov, who spends several hours communicating with young scientists, answers any questions and offers new opportunities for the company to support our projects. Such a discovery and sincere communication is rare, Stepan shared his impressions.
According to the participants, meetings with experts and representatives of other universities are held in a variety of ways: in the format of question-answer sessions, individual and group meetings, master classes, stories of success, etc. Some of the approaches turned out to be well known, and some were relatively innovative.
Speakers tell what they want: some give a theoretical base, taking as a basis a presentation from their educational course at ITMO, others tell a life story with failures and successes, others share services and tools that they use themselves, and so on. That is, the School does not have a common outline, there is no usual format with lectures and seminars. All mixed up, this is something new for me, quite strange and engaging, Ilya explained.
Rostislav agreed with his colleague:
It is interesting to hear case studies from experts, to understand the internal structure of large projects, to hear comments on your development and your projects, the principles of team formation, etc., said the graduate student.
In addition to direct work with experts and each other, the participants of the School attended several excursions. For example, NSU representatives visited the laboratories of the Almetyevsk State Oil Institute (ASOI), the museum of musical instruments and the interactive museum with physical experiments.
The excursion to ASOI passed very quickly, as the laboratories are still half empty due to the ongoing construction there is no part of the equipment and not so many employees. But this did not bother us at all, the scale of investments from Tatneft into the infrastructure of the institute is impressive in any case, Ilya added.
At the end of the intensive on Saturday, April 8 all participants of the School will be presented with the presentation of roadmaps, in which everyone will present either a personal trajectory for the next 5 years, or a trajectory within their current project.
My roadmap will be for the service of increasing the efficiency of the hydraulic fracturing operation (HF). In short, hydraulic fracturing technology is based on pumping fluid into the formation at high pressure through the well to create fractures that serve to transport hydrocarbons to the well. The effective conductivity of a fracture can be significantly increased by replacing the homogeneous pore structure of the pack (the medium through the voids of which hydrocarbons are filtered) by a heterogeneous one. And for this, it is necessary to choose the injection schedule so that clean fluids or fluids with proppant enter the fracture with alternating pulses. The technology has been worked out at the initial level (digital prototype), then it will be necessary to bring the technology to MVP, Arthur shared his plans to protect the map.
