Fr om April 30 to May 3, the School of Curators of the Great Mathematical Workshop (GMM) was held. This is an important stage in the preparation for the GMM. Within the framework of the School, the curators and organizers thought over the work of each thematic area of the Great Mathematical Workshop, discussed joint events, as well as the joint work of the curators and participants of the Workshop.
The Great Mathematical Workshop is an event wh ere teams of students, schoolchildren and teachers work on the implementation of projects in an intensive format. Each project is based on an open problem with a mathematical component. More often tasks belong to one of two types:
Workshop participants are accompanied by curators and experts assigned to each project team. The role of the curator is to create conditions for productive teamwork on project tasks and to organize communication and team functioning.
The head of GMM-2023, deputy director of the Mathematical Center in Akademgorodok, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Timur Nasybullov, shares:
The curator is one of the key positions at the Great Mathematical Workshop. It is he who works with the participants, and it is he who is the main authority and model for schoolchildren and students who work at the Workshop. Each curator is the organizer of the GMM. The school of curators is an excellent format for finally preparing for the Great Mathematical Workshop, synchronizing the goals and values of the curators, and also identifying the main formats of work.
