Department of Mathematics and Mechanics together with Yandex launches a new master's program

The Department of Mathematics and Mechanics of ³Ô¹Ï¹ÙÍø (DMM NSU) has launched a new master's program "Applied Machine Learning and Big Data", which is being implemented jointly with the School of Data Analysis (SDA) of the Yandex Academy.

Graduates of the program will receive not just academic knowledge, but also practice in solving scientific and technical problems of machine learning, working on real commercial projects and expanding their portfolio. During their studies, students will be in constant interaction with the ML community, curators and course teachers, which will significantly increase their chances of adapting well to the dynamic job market after graduation.

Rustam Mullyajanov, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, chairman of the , head of the program shared his vision:

Thoughts about creating a new master's program appeared in the DMM Laboratory of Applied Digital Technologies. Attractive master's programs for continuing education are often implemented under the brands of well-known IT companies. In the absence of such proposals at NSU, the launch of this program was initiated with the well-established School of Data Analysis of the Yandex Academy.

Applied Machine Learning and Big Data has two learning tracks. The main subjects for both tracks are the same — the SDA courses, elective courses from NSU and SDA, and optional courses from NSU.

As for the differences, the students of Track 1 study only in the master's program at the DMM NSU. Applicants wishing to enter this track must pass all entrance tests: fill out the program form and the NSU form, pass the exam and pass an interview for the Program. All timing information can be found on the website.

Track 2 students are educated both at the School of Data Analysis and at the Master's program at the DMM NSU. Those wishing to study on this track need to enter the SDA, fill out the program form and the NSU form. After filling in, the organizer of the program will contact you on an individual basis to agree on the time of the interview with a representative of the faculty.

The first exam will be held on July 4 in person at NSU. All the details are on the , in the  and in the (all are in Russian language).

The creation of the Master's program "Applied Machine Learning and Big Data" was supported under the "Priority 2030" federal program.
