Novosibirsk Scientists Grow Unique Nonlinear Crystal

For the first time, scientists at the NSU Physics Department Laboratory for Functional Materials grew a unique nonlinear lithium gallium sulfide crystal LiGaS2.

Registration Opens for Correspondence Stage of the International Medical Tournament

November 1, registration opened for the Correspondence Stage of the . The International Medical Tournament is a team competition that invites medical students to assess complex clinical problems based on real cases. The Tournament consists of two rounds. During the preliminary round from November 1 to February 11, participants are given cases to assess at home.  The final round takes place in Novosibirsk from April 19 to April 22, 2019. The competition also features two divisions: Russian-speaking and English-speaking leagues. Participants choose which language their team will compete in (Russian or English).

German Archaeologist Hermann Parzinger Becomes 19th NSU Honorary Doctor

Professor Hermann Parzinger, prominent German archeologist responsible for numerous international archeological discoveries, was awarded an honorary doctorate from ԹϹ. The Honorary Doctor title is the highest NSU award. Hermann Parzinger became the 19th scientist to receive it.

NSU Professor Publishes Book on Nanomaterials

The book is based on the experience of the team of authors in the framework of broad international cooperation promoted by the European Commission FP6 and FP7 programs and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.

NSU Ranked Second Best University in Eastern Europe

ԹϹ has retained the title of one of the best universities in Eastern Europe and Central Asia in the regional rankings by the British company Quacquarelli Symonds (QS).

Siberian and French Universities Discuss Cooperation at NSU Conference

Ten representatives from French and Siberian universities took part in an annual NSU conference. The conference program included a presentation of the Trianon Dialogue, a round table, “Academic Mobility: How to Overcome Obstacles”, a presentation of the program “Exporting Education”, a round table, “University Networks, Why?” , and a visit to the research laboratories in Akademgorodok and Academpark.

Novosibirsk Scientists Awarded for Most Cited Russian Publication

Elsevier, the largest scientific publishing house, established an award for the most quoted and published scientists in Europe, Asia, Latin America, and Russia. The winners are identified using the Scopus scientific publication database.

NSU Climbs 38 positions in U.S. News & World Report "Best Global Universities-2019"

ԹϹ has strengthened its position, jumping to 433 place in the overall ranking of world universities by the media company U.S. News and World Report.

Novosibirsk Scientists Make Hydrogen Energy Discoveries

Scientists at the NSU Physics Department Laboratory for Structures and Functional Properties of Molecular Systems and the G. K. Boreskov Institute of Catalysis SB RAS conducted a detailed structural study of the proton-exchange membrane, the main element in a fuel cell, and identified how to improve its conductivity.

NSU Scientists First in Russia to Create Defense Industry Crystals

Scientists at the NSU Physics Department Laboratory for Functional Materials created mono domain crystals of Potassium Titanyl Arsenate KTiOAsO4 (KTA).  This was the first time scientists in Russia were able to achieve this.  These nonlinear optical crystals are used to convert laser radiation in the visible mid infrared range in optical parametric oscillators (ODO). The ferroelectric properties and high homogeneity of the crystals made it possible to use them as the basis to create periodic structures that significantly increase the conversion efficiency of laser radiation in the spectral range up to 5 micrometers.

International Conference “Spain and Russia: The History and Today”

The conference “Spain and Russia: The History and Today” was organized and conducted by the Center for Spanish Language and Culture at the NSU Humanities Institute. The main objectives of the event were to strengthen ties between the two countries and to promote the Spanish language and culture. Presentations by guests and NSU students were given in Spanish with simultaneous translation.
