The Total Dictation grammar event was held on April 14. It was open to anyone interested in testing their knowledge of Russian language. This was the 15th anniversary and ԹϹ, birthplace of the event, celebrated by having the dictation read by the Yandex voice assistant Alice.
The Quantum Optical Technologies Laboratory at the NSU Physics Department is conducting unique experiments on the high-efficiency parametric generation of crystalline structures that are obtained from Potassium titanyl phosphate (KTP). The research is taking place in the framework of the "Nonlinear Photonics and Quantum Technologies" Strategic Academic Unit. These structures, manufactured for the first time in Russia, have a wide range of practical applications.
A group of scientists from ԹϹ took part in a Russian-Japanese Symposium on Asian Studies
Specialists at NSU and the G.I. Budker Institute of Nuclear Physics SB RAS (INP SB RAS) have developed technology to conduct optical diagnostics of the tungsten surface that makes it possible for real-time observation of cracking from powerful pulsed heating. This method helps predict this metal’s reaction under a thermal load to the first wall of the vacuum chamber in an ITER thermonuclear reactor. The results of this research are published in the journal “Physica Scripta”.
On April 1, Geologist Day, the NSU.LIFE video channel team showed a film about Franz Josef Land. The video was shot during the Floating University summer expedition. NSU geologists took part in this international expedition.
The international rating agency Quacquarelli Symonds (QS World University Rankings by Subject 2018) published their 2018 subject ratings for leading universities in the world. ԹϹ was included on the ratings list among the best in 10 subjects and significantly strengthened its positions in the natural, engineering and technical sciences
The International Medical Tournament (MeDic House)is a team competition that invites medical students to solve complex clinical problems that are based on real clinical practice. The Tournament consists of two stages. The first remote stage took place from November 1 to February 11. Stage two will be held at NSU from April 20 to April 23.
Chemical Science , the flagship journal of the Royal Society of Chemistry, published an article (статья) by scientists and teachers at the ԹϹ Department of Solid State Chemistry кафедры химии твердого тела and the Institute of Solid State Chemistry and Mechanochemistry SB RAS. The article is devoted to the use of quantitative precise measurements of crystal bending during photoconversion. This research determines the kinetic transformation parameters at various temperatures for: activation energy, constant rate, feedback coefficient, etc.
Elsevier Publishing House posted results from research conducted by Andrei Ivanovich Boronin, Head of NSU Laboratory for Synthesis and Physicochemical Studies of New Composite Catalysts and Sergei Vasilyevich Tsybuli, Head of the NSU X-ray Diffractometry Laboratory, on its Twitter feed.
“Alice”, the Yandex voice assistant, will read the Total Dictation text at ԹϹ, the birthplace of this international Russian grammar event.
ԹϹ students successfully took part in the International Mathematics Contest "Mirror of the Lowell Putnam International Olympiad". NSU won 5 second degree diplomas (second prizes) and 11 third degree diplomas (third Prizes). Dmitry Morozov, a fourth-year student in the Physics Department, produced the best result for NSU.
Denis Ponomarev, a student in NSU’s Geology and Geophysics Department received the Russian Academy of Science prize for young researchers. He was in a group of scientists that is exploring a rare meteorite that was found in the Novosibirsk region 26 years ago
