NSU Staff Participates in French Cave Art Monument Expedition

From October 18 to November 2, Lidia Zotkina, Head of the ԹϹ “Paleontology Platform” at the “New Archeology” Scientific-Educational Center, Senior Teacher at the Humanities Institute Archeology and Ethnography Section, and Tatyana Shevchenko, Researcher at the “Paleontology” Platform, took part in an expedition to the Abri du Poisson cave art monument in France (Dordogne).

Novosibirsk Bioinformaticians Increase Genome Data Analysis Efficiency

Bioinformaticians from ԹϹ (NSU), the Institute of Cytology and Genetics SB RAS (ICG), and Martin Luther University (Germany) created a unique software package to analyze genome-wide data hidden in DNA. Their software improves and significantly reduces the costs of expensive genomic experiments. The results of this work of were published in the journal “Nucleic Acids Research”.

Registration Opens for Foreign Graduate Student’s International Olympiad

Registration has begun for the Open Doors: Russian Scholarship Project International Olympiad for graduate students. The Olympiad is a joint project for leading universities in Russia, including NSU.

NSU Scientists Win Reaxys Award

The Reaxys Award Russia 2019 was given to 12 Russian scientists in the field of chemistry and material sciences. Elsevier, an information analytics business that specializes in science and medicine, and the Mendeleyev Russian Chemical Society announced the winners of the Reaxys Award Russia 2019 at the XXI Mendeleev Congress on General and Applied Chemistry.

NSU Scientists Develop Unique Laser Pulse Generation

Researchers at the NSU Division of Laser Physics and Innovative Technologies studied a new type of hybrid (fiber-semiconductor) laser. This resulted in the effective conversion of short electrical pulses into optical pulses with the same shape and duration.

The world-wide roaming service Eduroam is now available for users of ԹϹ’s WiFi networks. This service is designed for those who are engaged in research activities and work in the field of higher education. Connection is possible from a university account and as a guest.

NSU Mathematics Graduate Awarded New Zealand Ministry of Business Grant

Alexander Gavryushkin, a graduate of NSU’s Department of Mechanics and Mathematics, Head of the Biological Data Science Lab at the University of Otago (New Zealand), and Doctor of Mathematical Sciences, was awarded one million New Zealand dollars for his project “Computing Platform for Phylogenetic Analysis of Somatic Evolution”.

NSU students and professors participated in the XXXII European Crystallographic Meeting including sections on crystallography.  The Meeting took place in Vienna (Austria) from August 13 to 23.

NSU Organizes Archaeological Field School in Kyrgyzstan

From August 24 to September 5, an archeology field school, "Multidisciplinary Methods of Studying the Stone Age Monuments", was organized in Kyrgyzstan as part of the International Archaeological Expedition. These field schools have taken place in Southern Kyrgyzstan since 2014.
