Bioinformaticians from ԹϹ (NSU), the Institute of Cytology and Genetics SB RAS (ICG), and Martin Luther University (Germany) created a unique software package to analyze genome-wide data hidden in DNA. Their software improves and significantly reduces the costs of expensive genomic experiments. The results of this work of were published in the journal “Nucleic Acids Research”.
Registration has begun for the Open Doors: Russian Scholarship Project International Olympiad for graduate students. The Olympiad is a joint project for leading universities in Russia, including NSU.

Researchers at the NSU Division of Laser Physics and Innovative Technologies studied a new type of hybrid (fiber-semiconductor) laser. This resulted in the effective conversion of short electrical pulses into optical pulses with the same shape and duration.

Alexander Gavryushkin, a graduate of NSU’s Department of Mechanics and Mathematics, Head of the Biological Data Science Lab at the University of Otago (New Zealand), and Doctor of Mathematical Sciences, was awarded one million New Zealand dollars for his project “Computing Platform for Phylogenetic Analysis of Somatic Evolution”.
NSU students and professors participated in the XXXII European Crystallographic Meeting including sections on crystallography. The Meeting took place in Vienna (Austria) from August 13 to 23.
From August 24 to September 5, an archeology field school, "Multidisciplinary Methods of Studying the Stone Age Monuments", was organized in Kyrgyzstan as part of the International Archaeological Expedition. These field schools have taken place in Southern Kyrgyzstan since 2014.
