NSU Comes into Line with Employers Demands

NSU anniversary celebrations covered a lot of important events including a roundtable discussion about the employment of graduates. During the discussion, participating company managers expressed their interest in hiring NSU graduates. The talk was organized by the Alumni Center and the NSU Alumni Association Soyuz.

The employers were represented by such major companies as KMPG, PWS, Sberbank of Russia, State Research Center of Virology and Biotechnology VECTOR, Parallels and some others. Most of the companies have NSU graduates at many positions including the top management.

The main idea discussed was the proposal of a bilateral agreement between NSU and the companies. According to the agreement the university shall train students specifically for certain companies for good and valuable consideration of the companies aimed at improving the training conditions. Another idea announced was that of conducting elective courses, lectures or master classes where employers could get to know the students. Starting fr om the students’ early years, the employers could supervise those to match their companies’ demands.

In fact, examples of such supervision already exist. The Dean of the Physics Department at NSU and a representative of the Budker Institute of Nuclear Physics SB RAS Alexander Bondar says, “We consider NSU as a main resource of our staff and work in this direction. NSU has seven Chairs where we train those we are going to hire. We also support the university with our grant program for the students of NSU and Physics Mathematics High School as well as provide financial support for our instructors and professors.”

Many speakers during the discussion referred to the experience of foreign universities wh ere their curriculum can change every term depending on the employers’ demands. Thus, such graduates are always much-in-demand on the labor market.

The employers present wished NSU students to keep up with the times, learn English and Chinese and increase their general level of competencies and literacy.
