The leader in the rankings is California Institute of Technology (Caltech). It is followed by Harvard University and the University of Oxford.
NSU Rector Mikhail Fedoruk says, “NSU entering THE rankings is the result of our fruitful teamwork on the program Top-100. Russian universities have low positions in the rankings on such a parameter as citations. We have managed to do a lot to improve our scientometrics. We have set up joint laboratories in cooperation with Akademgorodok research institutes. Trying to attract all the actively working scientists of SB RAS, we engage them to work in these labs. Our efforts have had effect.”
Phil Baty, the ranking's editor, congratulated Russia on returning to the world’s elite list of top-200 universities and improving its positions in top-400, as well as holding the positions in top-100 for physics and engineering and technologies. He commented that the increased state support together with a clear program of education reforms and investments pay off and show certain potential for further achievements.
NSU has been implementing the Program of the Competitiveness Enhancement among the leading international universities and centers for research and education since 2013.
