The Summer School of the Specialized Educational Scientific Centre (SESC) at NSU has begun its work. It is the 52 Summer School of SESC at NSU. About 600 schoolchildren from different regions of the Russian Federation have arrived at the School.
The festive Opening of the Summer School was held in the House of Sciences. The Rector of NSU Mikhail Fedoruk, the Vice-President of the SBRASVasily Fomin and the Headmaster of SESC at NSU Nikolai Yavorsky delivered speeches of welcome to the students of the School. Also the Governor of Novosibirsk region Vasily Yurchenko greeted them. He said,鈥漈oday the most talented young people from different regions of Russia and from some other countries have gathered in this hall. They have been selected for working and studying at the Summer School which is a preparation ground for future professional workers in different branches of science and economics. During 52 years more than 16 000 students have studied at the School. Many of them have become eminent people not only in Russia but also in other countries. We offer all necessary facilities to the students so that they could show their potential and make good progress鈥�.
At the ceremony a physical experiment with circular vortexes was shown. In 1962 Academician Mikhail A. Lavrentiev first showed the experiment. At the end of the Opening ceremony Academician Sergei Vodopyanov delivered a lecture 鈥淎bout mathematics and mathematicians鈥�.
This year more than 600 schoolchildren who have finished 8, 9 and 10 forms are studying at the School. During 3 weeks the students have been listening to the lectures of the leading scientists and professors of NSU and SB RAS and have been making the acquaintance of the work of research institutes. The students with the best results in studying are going to be enrolled in SESC.
