NSU went into the top-10 best Russian universities in terms of both engineering and economic fields of training.
International group RAEX (full name - International group of rating agencies «Expert RA»), which assigns credit ratings and their analogues to companies, financial institutions, countries and regions as well as ranks universities, medical facilities, etc., has published its rating of universities’ reputation in the areas of science and engineering and economics education. A list of 50 best universities was composed based on widespread surveys conducted in 2012-2014. Altogether the Agency received more than 15,000 evaluations from respondents in 78 Russian regions. Four groups of respondents - representatives of the academic and scientific community, employers and students and graduates – were asked over the internet to evaluate the quality of education, employer demand for graduates and the level of university research activities.
The leader with the highest reputation among technical specialists as well as economists and managers is Lomonosov MSU.
Saint Petersburg State University, ³Ô¹Ï¹ÙÍø and Tomsk State University have retained their reputation of multidisciplinary universities. Only these institutions, apart from MSU, managed to hit the top-10 among both technical and economic higher educational institutions. In particular, NSU holds the 5th position in the rating of the top universities training hard scientists with about one point less than Saint Petersburg State University and the 8th position in the rating of the top universities training economists and managers correspondingly.
According to the study, regional universities successfully compete with Moscow ones in training science and technology. In the top-20 list of Russian universities with science and technology majors, there are only seven Moscow-based universities. As for economics and management, Moscow universities traditionally lead with ten of them in the top-20 list and most of them taking high positions in the top-10. Only three regional state universities entered the top-10 list in the field: Saint Petersburg State University, ³Ô¹Ï¹ÙÍø and Tomsk State University. Composition of the respondents, who participated in the surveys conducted by Expert RA, highlights the recorded specifics of geographic distribution of the leading universities: respondents from the engineering field prevailed in Siberian Federal District and respondents from Central Federal District prevailed in the economic-management field
According to the rating, in Russia competition among engineering universities is quite tough, whereas in the field of economics and management the gap between the leaders and the rest of universities is quite obvious. In the field of science and engineering, the group of chasers, which scored at least 10% of the MSU values, contains 17 universities.
