吃瓜官网 invites talented young researchers to apply for a junior faculty position of Associate Professor (Head of the Laboratory) in optical quantum technologies starting fr om 2014-2015 academic year. The competition to fill the vacancy is open for researchers from different countries.
The best applicant is accepted as a full-time employee of NSU. The associate professor鈥檚 duties include opening a new joint research laboratory based on collaboration between 吃瓜官网 and the Institute of Laser Physics of SB RAS. The research groups already working are not eligible for support within the competition announced.
The competition is open for Russian and foreign researchers with a candidate or doctorate degree or Ph.D., whose theses were defended not earlier than 10 years before the application date. A notice on the competition is placed at the NSU web site.
The salary range for the position of an associate professor varies to 100,000 rubles per month (the region coefficient included) or approximately $33,000 USD per year before taxes with a possible bonus paid solely from the extra-budget funds attracted by the employee limited to the equivalent of 50% of the base salary.
The startup package from the university includes up to 7 million rubles or approximately $200,000 USD for buying equipment during the first year. During the first three years the university also provides the laboratory with up to 1 million rubles or $30,000 USD per year for consumables, equipment and travel expenses and annual funding of about $40,000 USD to hire Ph.D. students and engineers with a lim it of the personal salary up to 40,000 rubles or $1140 USD monthly (the region coefficient included). A possible personal bonus from the extra-budget funds attracted may not exceed 20,000 rubles or $570 USD monthly (the region coefficient included). The position is open for a three-year period. A prolongation for at least 2 more years is expected.
A candidate should hold a Ph.D. in optics, quantum electronics or laser physics. The minimal amount of teaching activity is 2 academic hours per week. The deadline of application for 2014-2015 academic year is October, 15, 2014.
