Freshmen: Incredibly Lucky Students

On the threshold of the academic year NSU holds a special event, Freshman Move-in Day, inviting first year students to the House of Scientists.

Traditionally, the event starts with a film. Presented by NSU Life, the welcoming clip inspired everyone. Further on, the university authorities expressed welcome to new students and congratulated them on beginning a new chapter in their life.

NSU Rector, Mikhail Fedoruk pointed out that this year freshmen are especially lucky. “You entered ԹϹ in an anniversary year, when NSU turns 55. Many of you will celebrate the 60th anniversary as well. While studying you are fortunate to be on the spot seeing the university change tremendously.”

The Deans of the departments invited heavy applause of the audience. They offered their wise advice and sometimes were even parabolic. For instance, the Dean of the Natural Sciences Department, Vladimir Reznikov, congratulating the students said that it is similar to congratulating a horse with the start of the sowing season. The Dean of the Economics Department, Gagik Mkrtchyan, went on to tell a parable.

The speeches were followed by a lecture on accelerators given by a former graduate of the Physics Department, presently Professor in Oxford and Director of the John Adams Institute for Accelerator Science (UK) Andrei Seryi.

The event also featured a concert by NSU humorous clubs, the historical dance studio “Medieval” and the vocal studio. The performers welcomed freshmen to sing, dance and play KVN with them.

Note: The total number of freshmen enrolled at NSU is 1468.

Welcome, incoming freshmen! Congratulations on your acceptance to NSU! Let all the turns in your life be exceptionally successful!
