The authoritative international rating agency «Expert RA» has compiled its third annual ranking of universities in Russia, and most of the top ten Russia’s universities of 2013 have retained their top positions in 2014, including NSU.
Like a year ago, the three leaders stayed the same: MSU, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, and Bauman MSTU. NSU is ranked the 8th position. The rating is a comprehensive study, during which statistics was analyzed and extensive surveys of more than 7500 respondents - employers, representatives of the academic and scientific communities, students and graduates -were conducted. The three main criteria included: conditions for getting high quality of knowledge, skills and abilities; the level of graduates’ competitiveness in the labor market and the level of research activities of universities.
As representatives of “Expert RA” say, the competition among leading Russian universities is becoming more and more dynamic. The average Unified State Exam score for one exam required to enter one of top-100 universities in 2014 is as high as 74.5 compared to that of 70.4 in the previous year. The average budgeting for one student at a university from the top-100 list has increased by 9.8%; the number of SCOPUS publications prepared by an average academic – by 26.4%. Under such harsh competition, increasing a few factors cannot guarantee taking a higher position in the rating.
The government budgeting allocated to some universities with the aim of increasing their competitiveness has helped them quite significantly, according to “Expert RA”. Eleven out of the twelve recipients either hold or have improved their positions. Granting efficient administration, such universities can aspire to high positions and continue their positive dynamics next year.
