The 2018 International Scientific Student Conference (ISSC) was held from April 22 to 27. ԹϹ Master’s student Svetlana Pronoza, presented her research on homeschooling in the "Sociology" section of the conference and was awarded a second degree diploma.

Michele Debrenne, Professor in the Roman-German Philology Section at the NSU Humanities Institute, received the French National Order of the Legion of Honor at the French Institute in Moscow. The award was presented by Iren Zayonchek, an officer of the Order of the Legion of Honor and representative at the French Embassy in Russia.
ԹϹ graduate students Mikhail Dyatlov (Physics Department), Alexei Verevkin (Physics Department) and Kseniya Mozhaytseva (Natural Sciences Department) were among 322 laureates from around the world who received the prestigious Eiffel Scholarship. In addition, five NSU undergraduate students were awarded French Embassy scholarships following a complex competitive process. All of the students are now taking intensive French language classes in preparation for studying abroad.
Collisions of electrons and positrons were observed for the first time In the SuperKEKB collider (Japan). The Belle II detector that was installed where the collision took place registered the event. Scientists from ԹϹ and the Institute of Nuclear Physics SB RAS took part in the development and creation of one of the key systems in the Belle II detector, a 40-ton electromagnetic calorimeter based on cesium iodide crystals.
The International Medical Tournament was held for the fifth time at ԹϹ. 24 teams from Russia, Germany, Serbia, Poland, and Ireland fought for the winning title.
Alena Telepova, a student at the NSU Institute of Medicine and Psychology, investigated a very rare genetic pathology: marker chromosomes in patients with intellectual disability. The results of this work can be useful for pregnant women who are interested in prenatal diagnosis of the embryo to identify genetic abnormalities and get a prognosis for the pathology that will develop.
Scientists at the Laboratory of Optics and Dynamics of Biological Systems at the NSU Physics Department (part of the "Nonlinear Photonics and Quantum Technologies" strategic academic unit), together with the Laboratory of Cytometry and Biokinetics at the Institute of Chemical Kinetics and Combustion SB RAS, have developed a tool for modeling the form of blood platelets and its changes when activated. Their article was published in the March issue of the prestigious scientific journal “PLoS Computational Biology”. For the Journal’s cover, the editors chose the three-dimensional image of the platelet created by Novosibirsk scientists.
The International Youth Scientific Forum for all branches of modern science, "Lomonosov-2018", was held at Moscow State University April 9 to 13. Elena Bytchenko , a freshman student at NSU’s Institute of Philosophy and Law studying "Jurisprudence", won first place for her report "Conflicts in Criminal Law in the First Half of the XIX Century".
On Saturday, April 14, the annual “Total Dictation “event was conducted at ԹϹ. This year the event celebrates its 15th anniversary. Overall, this year Total Dictation brought together participants in 6 continents, 76 countries, and 1000 cities.
