The International Youth Scientific Forum for all branches of modern science, "Lomonosov-2018", was held at Moscow State University April 9 to 13.  Elena Bytchenko, a freshman student at NSU’s studying  "Jurisprudence", won first place for her report  "Conflicts in Criminal Law in the First Half of the XIX Century".

Bytchenko’s report presented a serious study of legislation in the Russian Empire and archival materials from the Novosibirsk and Krasnoyarsk Regions. It was recognized as the best in the "History of the Russian State and Law" category that took place at the Moscow State University Law Department. The Jury selected her work over 39 other reports from undergraduate, MA and post-graduate students from different Russian regions.

Bytchenko talked about her research and the Forum,

I worked a lot with archival materials, because I needed to conduct a comparative analysis and identify a certain type of conflict. The reports were evaluated by the participants and then on the basis of those results, the jury members made the final decision. The jury also awarded prizes for special recognition of works.

Bytchenko's work received one of the special prizes from the Chair of Theory and History of Law and the State at the Moscow State University Law Department.
