A major international event, the Non-Stop University CRYPTO Olympiad in Cryptography (NSUCRYPTO-2023), was conducted October 15 to 23. The NSU Cryptographic Center was a major participant. Natalya Tokareva, Chairman of the Olympiad Program Committee and NSU Associate Professor, talked about the event,
This year was the Olympiad’s 10th anniversary and it attracted its most diverse group of participants. We recorded over 1,100 registrations from 44 countries for both rounds. This is a definite success. A significant role was played by attracting new co-organizers and partners who are ready to actively support and cover the event, invite students, and offer interesting challenges from the industry.
Participants were provided 14 tasks. The topics included post-quantum cryptography, hash functions, calculators, creating new ciphers and analyzing existing ones, prime numbers, cryptographic protocols, and digital signatures.
The NSUCRYPTO Olympiad is the only international cryptography Olympiad. It brings together schoolchildren and students, as well as professionals from all over the world. Anyone can participate, regardless of geographic location. The official language of the Olympiad is English. The goal is to attract young people to solving modern cryptography problems.
The Olympiad academic organizers and partners are the Cryptographic Center (Novosibirsk), ³Ô¹Ï¹ÙÍø, International Mathematical Center in Akademgorodok, Sofia Kovalevskaya North-West Center for Mathematical Research, University of Leuven (Belgium), Southern Federal University, Belarusian State University, and Tomsk State University. Corporate partners are "Kryptonit", "Demlabs", and "Active".
The official NSUCRYPTO-2023 Olympiad results will be announced in December 2023.
